:: Corinne Bailey Rae - The Love EP

Corinne Bailey Rae

This is a brand new EP of cover versions by British songstress Corinne Bailey Rae. As a digital-only release, ‘The Love EP’ comprises five of Corinne’s favourite songs, recorded around the world as she toured in support of 2010’s massively acclaimed album ‘The Sea’. It features the shimmering funk of Prince’s ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’, the guitar-heavy indie rock of Belly’s ‘Low Red Moon’, a soulful reading of the Bob Marley classic ‘Is This Love?’, a Stevie Wonder-influenced take on Paul McCartney’s ‘My Love’ and a Sly & The Family Stone-inspired live version of Doris Day’s ‘Que Sera Sera’. It's a real snapshot of her last year around the world. Although an attempt to reinvent the wheel it isn't, many of Corinne’s brash interpretations do manage to turn out some surprisingly pleasant results. Her rehash of Prince’s “I Wanna Be Your Lover” is particularly infectious while she puts her delicate touch on the Ennio Morricone-influenced alt rocker “Low Red Moon” (originally by Belly). The only real weakness on this compilation is the live performance of “Que Sera Sera”, whose thirteen-minute length makes listening to it a bit of a chore. Corinne soon heads into the studio to start work on her third album.
