Cradle Of Filth

Fans of this band have received great value from them over the years, as they never let their guard down in producing their brand of goth-metal. The guitars are really out in gritty, juicy fashion and they probably sound more upfront as a rock band as they’ve ever done. Not to say that the keyboards influence is diminished. Quite the contrary, as they are superb on tracks like Gabrielle and English Fire. The drumming has a real kick too. Singer Dani Filth delivers his trademark high pitched screams and knows the instincts of what’s around him. The band works cohesively in writing the appropriate songs with much depth. The result is a variable, riff-laden CD with a lot of catchy metal songs. Some die-hard fans probably need some time to get used to this album, but it will certainly grow and become one of their favourite releases. This is their debut under the Roadrunner Records banner and, while they may no longer seem as menacing or as controversial as years past, Cradle Of Filth generally stick to their metal roots and deliver a worthy album. One thing noticeable is that Sara Jezebel Diva’s vocal contributions are very minimal on this album. Perhaps she should have been given a chance on the gorgeous title track, instead of having a guest vocalist in. Anyway, it doesn’t detract from the album’s worth. Overall, the band shows they’re still with it on the metal front and they carve out another defining CD for fans.
