:: Cydney Robinson - Spokesman For The ShoelessCydney RobinsonWhen I discovered the sounds of Cydney Robinson I couldn't believe how good her songs were, and I've listened and listened in extracting more feelings out of this Texas-born singer-songwriter. She moved to Los Angeles at the start of this decade and has worked exceptionally hard to fulfill an ambition to record her debut album. She worked to save money in order to enlist the services of producer Tony Hoffer (who has worked with Beck, Belle and Sebastian, The Thrills, The Kooks, The Fratellis, amongst others) to make that album with her. Accordingly, she got some notable musicians to play on it. When the players found out she was paying them from her own pocket, they waived the fees and became her band - a magical thing! Very honest, soulful, blues and roots-influenced sounds comprise the worthy set of songs in "Spokesman For The Shoeless”. Her hard work has paid off with something Cydney can be very proud of. Add to the terrific musicianship, a purposeful and raw vocal output, and there is really something to behold as Cydney takes listeners of her special journey. Cydney pushes the creative barrier to energise and captivate. She may not be everyone's flavour but I think she has a great future. I therefore look forward to hearing much more from this talented singer-songwriter. | ![]() http://www.myspace.com/cydneyrobinson |
