Vocalist, composer, lyricist and multi-instrumentalist, Damon Smith gives us honesty as an independent artist with passion in his work. Performing with his band ‘The Quality Lightweights’ they have come up with plentiful ideas and songs and currently recorded about 200 tracks in his studio, nonetheless booked over 60 stage shows in popular venues in Melbourne during 2008, giving Damon Smith a recognised name. Originally from Perth and now residing in Melbourne, he gives us his all in his studio, intimate lyrics follow through with his singing, and writing. Let‘s not forget that he also plays beautifully on piano, drums, guitars and organ; you can hear his precision in his beat, bass, tone and voice. Only two songs on this sample, but again a muscian influenced by rock/folk/country/melody. A very sexy voice convinces me of his 'thing in his chest’ on track 1, and I hope he truly feels better about it. On ‘Lines are made for Standing on’ track 2, you can tell it was more woeful, but still upbeat. Damon's style is truly unique and lovely, but if I were to compare him for you, to me he reminds me of Tom Waits mixed with Lucinda Willaims. These single-song releases were entertaining and appreciated. Recommend myself to listen to more of him.
