The effect of the Californian surf sound in Australia, from the glorious 60s days, has had a lasting effect. A mostly instrumental style of music became influential across the beach-loving Australian society. Therefore, it is a worthy thing for this CD “Delightful Rain” to celebrate Australian surf music. Some fine musicians have gathered to help compile the CD, including The Atlantics, GANGgajang, Tamam Shud, Richard Clapton, and The Celibate Rifles, to name a few. Many of the musicians felt the surf music feel from international performers like Hank B Marvin and The Shadows, and this sets the tone for how Australians viewed the surf music era. The CD was recorded at the Freshwater Surf Lifesaving Club, on Sydney’s northern beaches and it adds extra significance to the whole vibe of the music. The recording process – footage and interviews - is also documented in a bonus DVD, which comes as a special collectors edition of “Delightful Rain”.
