Smooth, sophisticated and tempting. You just have to hear the continental style rendition of Joy Division’s classic ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’. It’s a gorgeous song, beautifully sung by Nouvelle Vague. It’s just one of a set of glorious tracks on this latest compilation from the creative Petrol Records. The French sound resonates through other sensuous cover songs, including Kyrsten’s soothing ‘Feel Like Making Love’ and LTK Xperience’s offering of the Beatles song (slightly changed) ‘And I Love Him’. Other worthy tracks that would be familiar to listeners are ‘This Is Not A Love Song’ and ‘Wicked Game. Of course, Dimitri From Paris is one of France’s biggest names and he is also represented here. The passion for lounge music is still formidable and this is one of the better ones heard in recent times. It’s all about love and sex, and the package is cool and glossy to go with the grooves and rhythms.
