D’Opus & Roshambo’s ‘The Switch’ is the debut album from a pair of Australian Hip Hop old hands. D’Opus cut his teeth as producer and a live favourite DJ while Emcee Roshambo has built his name as a solid story teller with a fascination of the darker side of the nation’s capital. ‘The Switch’ is an impressive effort as both artists are not afraid to throw a few curve balls at their listeners. Tracks skirt from bass heavy funk, to smooth melodic jazz and throbbing electronica. Lead single and Triple JJJ favorite ‘Million Dollar Bill’ soulful chorus is instantly catchy. North Carolina Emcee Supastition also delivers a great guest turn in ‘Leave Her Alone’. The Canberra duo haven’t forgotten their hometown however, with Axe Aklins, Carts2Deadly, Minky Faber all dropping in to add their talents to what is another impressive local release.
