Drapht is a young hip-hop singer-songwriter who is on the rise in developing his artistic quality in the Australian music scene. He emerges with his latest work “Who Am I” as capable of compiling soulful melodies and some heavy textures. It comes across as being very easy for him to accomplish despite his no-nonsense, give-it-all attitude. Drapht’s strong voice is most apparent and he can therefore accentuate the topics he pinpoints, be it social and political concerns. And he throws in some good humorous elements as well which makes for something personable to his public. His style switching will stand him in good stead as he advances his prowess as an MC. He has a good team of people behind him, as indicated by the appearances on this record by people like Layla, Downsyde, Pressure and Selekt, to name a few. He doesn’t stand out as yet as a total hip-hop performer, but he is developing his technique solidly in the way he delivers his messages with intricate rhythm and personality.
