:: Earl Gray - Earl Gray

Earl Gray

‘Earl Gray’ is the final product of many years of singing and song writing by Sydney’s talented music artist, Graeme Pillemer, who uses the stage name of Earl Gray. At 23, Pillemer is most commonly known for his leading role in the rocking blues band ‘Voodoo Soup,’ and for winning the main prize at the prestigious Jaxter Songwriter of the Year Awards early in 2005. Judges at the awards proclaimed his self written and performed single ‘Bad Luck,’ as being ‘funky’ and ‘distinctive,’ claiming that it was; ‘Like an R&B version of Ben Harper,’ and that ‘It [fell] together nicely [with] good clear vocals’. Pillemer joined with multi instrumentalist, Tony Buchen from the Baggsmen to create his EP, Earl Gray. The CD incorporates elements of hip hop, R&B, alternative rock and jazz to generate a unique and distinctive sound. Earl Gray, proves that ‘Bad Luck’ was not a one off hit, with his other singles, ‘Morning Breeze,’ ‘Long Hot Summer Night,’ ‘Stuck In A Cloud’ and ‘Still Learnin’,’ all showing originality, rhythm and a depth of sound that stirs emotion in the listener. He is bound to make a major stir in the Australian music scene, and Earl Gray is definitely worth a listen.
