:: Edward Guglielmino & the Show - Settle Down With Me

Edward Guglielmino & the Show

The first single off Brisbane bad boy Edward Guglielmino & The Show’s latest single off his debut EP Late At Night is a jazzed up affair. Aptly named ‘Settle Down With Me’, the single is smooth and sleek abstract rock with that easy-on-the-ear pop vibe favoured by fellow Aussies Powderfinger. Now don’t let the plural-sounding name fool you. Edward Guglielmino & The Show is a one man band. And if the press release is anything to go off of, Guglielmino likes it that way, describing himself as “Brisbane’s foremost egoist”. But luckily his apparent self-centeredness doesn’t stop him from collaborating with Nicoletta Panebianco in ‘Settle Down With Me’. Where Guglielmino’s vocals are raw and high, Panebianco’s back-up vocals are powerful and deep, at times stealing the limelight from him. ‘Settle Down With Me’ is an ode to the simple life. Taking a leaf out of the happy-go-lucky lyrics, the single’s instrumentals are honest and gleeful but hardly earth-shattering. In all, the guitar, bass, drum and keys compilation come together with Guglielmino and Panebianco’s vocals to make for a nice song, but nothing spectacular or highly memorable. Simply put, this is not a song that will rock your world but it’s pleasant listening all the same.
