:: Erika Jayne - Pretty Mess

Erika Jayne

The value of Myspace comes to the fore again as I have recently been introduced to a new singing performer Erika Jayne from the USA. With great looks and an impacting personality, she demonstrates the ability to set a strong path in the entertainment business. Her new CD ‘Pretty Mess’ contains some interesting varities of pop and You‘ll probably hear similarities with a Madonna sound but Erika brings her own freshness and vitality to the songs. Already, the clubs have embraced her music strongly and fourteen tracks here give great value for listeners. She can heighten and then lower the tempos with uncanny ability and several songs are very radio-worthy in their pop sensibility and steamy, addictive beats. The title track, for instance, has a verve and charisma to hook you in, while the madly catchy 'Give You Everything’ has a glowing rhythm to keep the dance floors pumping. Throughout the CD, it is noticeable of the quality of the production. Erika draws upon the assistance of some acclaimed producers, Peter Rafelson (worked with Madonna, Britney Spears, Stevie Nicks) and Eric Kupper (Destiny’s Child, Kylie Minogue), amongst others. They‘ve helped produce some excellent electronic pop and Erika's sexy vocals bring a total package that is sure to be noticed in mainstream music circles. A couple of interesting things that readers worldwide will remember. Erika's album includes her cover of the old Apollonia track 'Sex Shooter’ (made by Prince) and percussionist Sheila E makes a guest appearance on the track “Time to Realize.” Erika‘s online popularity has been growing immensely - the singles releases to date have scorched up dance charts and her prowess spreads to dancing and acting, through a notable video for 'Give You Everything’. Billboard has classed her as a Breakthrough artist of note. As I finish writing this piece, I just received news that Erika has skyrocketed up near the top of British music charts for the single and remixes of ‘Give You Everything’. Therefore, it is all systems go for this young star of the future. I'm certainly glad to have had the opportunity, from here in Australia, to discover a new artist of exceptional quality, and can't wait to see Erika perform live one day soon.
