Sometimes band names can leave you somewhat confused. For example, although I like Coldplay and Powderfinger, I do question where the band names came from and what they mean. When it comes to Evil Beaver I think they are questions best left unanswered. With song titles such as ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ and ‘Cherry Master’, I think it’s safe to assume they are not named after the loveable little animals we all know are proficient at building dams. Anyway, moving onto the music… Evil Beaver is essentially a rock band, and not a light-hearted one at that. Veering perilously close to the hard rock cliff edge, Evil Beaver deliver their own brand of unhinged fist pumping rock. Particularly noteworthy is the track ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’, which has just the right mix of rhythm and venom, a black clad crowd pleaser if I’ve ever heard one. If non-conformist heavy rock is something that appeals to your tastes then you should definitely seek out this recording, you won’t be disappointed.
