:: Exit Wounds - Exit WoundsExit WoundsAlthough it only ran for a mere ten minutes, Polish act Exit Wounds’ debut EP release ‘17 Wounds Of Exit’ was quite possibly one of the most hate filled and violent sounding releases of 2007. But, after a year long absence, Exit Wounds have returned with their debut full-length effort ‘Exit Wounds’. And man, is this one brutal effort! The formula hasn’t changed much from what was offered up on ‘17 Wounds Of Exit’, with ‘Exit Wounds’ boasting thirty tracks of pure sonic violence, while the entire album clocks in at a massive twenty three minutes. The really surprising aspect about this release is the band’s ability to keep the entire album interesting throughout. Sonically, the band fuses together both old school grindcore with flashes of primitive death metal, which more than helps keep the songs distinct from one another throughout. Given the relatively short length of most of the songs, it’s hard to single out individual tracks, but tracks such as the chaotic ‘Fire At Will’, the groove based ‘Hand Of The Dictator’, the pure desperation of ‘If He Wants You, He Will Get You’ and the riff mad ‘Chuje F**k Off’ are certainly favourites. Also worthy of a special mention are the butchered covers of Haymaker’s ‘Another S**t Movie’ and Retaliation’s ‘Things Never Change’. Unlike a lot of so-called grindcore acts these days, Exit Wounds follow proudly in the tradition of early Nasum, Napalm Death and Benumb, which means that if pure unadulterated audio violence is what you’re on the lookout for, be rest assured that Exit Wounds deliver just that with crushing ferocity. |
