:: The Falconz - In Trouble AgainThe FalconzThe Melbourne five piece debuted with “Blue Highway” and saw album track ‘Waiting’ nominated for an award at the Tamworth Country Music festival. Not a particularly indicative reflection of what to expect here though. This ocker, suburban, soul-searching acoustic rock, features a couple of lap steels and some very country chord progression s but somewhere between Weddings, Paries, Anything, Things of Stone and Wood and Lee Kernaghan. The Kernaghan leanings are the mildest ones here. The Falconz main pulse is songwriter/frontman Paul William Ray, who bears an urgent, piercing, almost nasally infused as he spits out his delvings and musings into love, relationships and the like. The band, as aforementioned, pushes him along on an acoustic, pop-rocked trolley. Standard fare here but enough enthusiasm and directed energy to pull it through. |
