:: Felicity Groom - GossamerFelicity GroomGossamer is the debut album from Perth singer Felicity Groom. Her voice is deep and sultry and one can imagine it to be from a distant 60s or 70s era, such is the timeless sound conjured up. There is good diversity amongst the tracks, with a song like Finders & Keepers layering a rolling percussion on a strong vocal, to create an incredibly powerful song. On the other hand, New Years is relaxed with little instrumentation. Felicity has the ability to easily switch between different genres: from the jazzy style of John Edmund Shea to an uplifting string arrangement of An Ache. The latter is my highlight of the record. The latter's strings sound full of happiness and the lyrics are sweet. Gossamer is a such a complex and complete record that it is difficult to believe it is a debut album. Felicity has put her heart and soul into this album. With some help from her friends like members of Jebediah and Tame Impala, the outcome is very impressive and captivating. And, even better, she has “had a go” in being bold with her own multi-instrumentalist talent and interesting arrangements. Felicity has been scoring local Western Australian awards and other credits. Now it is time for the greater musical community to hear what she is capable of. I can only expect to hear great things in the future from this talented artist. | ![]() |
