Fisher King

If you are a fan of Jason Mraz or Jack Johnson you simply must check out this Sydney based folk-rock quartet who have started to create a little bit buzz about themselves and with a good EP like this debut there is little wonder why. 'Who Are You Praying To?’ may get the EP off to a mellow start, but ‘Smellin’ Roses’ is a fine piece of folk-rock that is screaming out to be used on a soundtrack. ‘The Search For Something Different’ sees Fisher King show-off their much publicized instrumental skills while ‘& Back To War’ has a terrific bluegrass baseline that makes you want to listen to the EP over and over. ‘Tanzanian Time’ is the kind of song you can drift off to on a summer day and when it’s final strains are ending you find yourself wishing that there more songs to be found here, as Fisher King are the real deal. There are some good folk acts in Australia at the moment and Fisher King are at the head of that list.
