Gotta hand it to Franz Ferdinand. They know how to cut a catchy tune. After the worldwide success of their runaway smash ‘Take Me Out’ last year, the Glaswegians have followed it up with ‘Do You Want To’, which not only earmarks their triumphant return but is 3 minutes 34 seconds of highly addictive rock. On second album ‘You Could Have It So Much Better’ these Scots continue setting the trend with music that‘s not only cheeky and fun but shows even more spirit than before. They play with unbridled enthusiasm and energy but also have the uncanny ability to pen songs that not only shake you up and get you moving but stay with you forever. Opener 'The Fallen’ kickstarts the procession with a bang! It‘s got a great rockin’ rhythm and melody and is one funky number. ‘This Boy’ literally e xplodes with a wall of sound from the incredibly quick drums and guitars (a feature throughout the album). ‘Walk Away’ slows things a little, ‘Evil And A Heathen’ is insanely upbeat but it‘s perhaps the incredibly beautiful piano ballad 'Eleanor Put Your Boots Back On’ which shows Franz Ferdinand have an incredibly bright, long future ahead of them. You could have it so much better? Not likely!
