Fur Patrol

We’ve had to wait a while for a follow-up to their debut CD, but New Zealand’s Fur Patrol return with extra bite to their music, much to do with some fine, feisty female vocals and crunching guitars throughout. The band has been based in Melbourne for a while now It seems as though their time away has been well utilised. There is some good stuff here, as in “Precious”, “Get Along”, and “Rocket”. They move into quieter moments, which also showcases the capable singing of lead singer Julia Deans. She helps bring an inspiring jazzy touch to the album. The power ballad “Little Heart” ensures a strong finish. Good darker lyrics and some interesting wavering rock sounds should ensure the band’s continued rise in popularity.
