Sydney all-girl band Fyreflyes, which has established itself on the local circuit over the past three years, provides a feisty and fiery set of tracks in this EP. There is a good deal of experience within the group, particularly with Jill Adams and Jess Finlayson at the helm, and the big sounding vocals and instrumentation are sure to satisfy their fans with this effort. The band has proved to be sought after for big tour supports and have enjoyed their time in big festivals. There are some well-written songs that tell of love and revenge, treated with sweetness and mystique, and emphasising a feeling of power rock and worthy harmonies. There is a still a little refinement in their sound needed to pull in the real quality, but these are good tracks from young women who simply put passion and soul into their music. That’s not a bad reason to have a listen to this EP.
