Amity Dry

Catapulted to fame with the success of the television series “The Block”, I was eagerly awaiting the release of 25-year-old Amity Dry’s debut album. Unfortunately, I don’t share the same enthusiasm for her album as I did for “The Block”. Amity’s offering has some brief glimpses of an ‘engaging album’; the vocals and piano in “The Lighthouse”, “One Wish” and “Every Road” could be termed as ‘pleasant to the ear’; however where the album fails in my opinion, is in its content. There is nothing that sets the album apart from the next album - creatively it is mediocre. While she should be applauded for writing her own tracks, they are largely monotonous, and the lyrics are not delivered with any spirit, energy or emotion. Perhaps a nice present for Nan? http://www.amitydry.com
