And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead

…Trail of Dead have come a long way since their first self titled album back in 1997. Their latest effort picks up right where the second album Madonna left off. Source Tags & Codes is a little more intricate and inviting to a first time listeners ears. From the very sombre but blissful opening of the delicate ‘Invocation’ to the killer sing-along of the first single ‘Another Morning Stoner’, you soon begin to realise that you’ve begun the journey of what could quite possibly be the album of the year, with it’s blistering destructive highs and divine lethargic lows. With an album like this where the beauty of each song seems to leak straight into the next, it’s very hard to pick out the main highlights, but my personal favourites include the brilliant Another Morning Stoner, the feisty Days of Being Wild (where the obliteration the band are known for so well during their onstage onslaughts can almost be heard through the recording), and latest single Relative Ways. In a few words: This is Celestial Texan punk art angst rock at it’s very best.
