They’ve already had a couple of hit songs; one in particular “Pleased To Meet You”, and now Aneiki has released their debut album. Jennifer Waite (singer/songwriter) and Grant Wallis (producer/DJ/songwriter) are a likeable combination of clever beats that bite and smooth, calm vocals that will build into something tangible for Australian music fans to inhale. Don’t judge them on that big debut single because there are edgier moments, tinged with guitar-driven and electronic elements. Perhaps the lack of live appearances has seen some momentum lost, but the band is to do some touring soon and they will endear themselves. The songs are well crafted and the musicianship is proficient. Under the guise of Daniel Jones (ex-Savage Garden), they will hopefully tread a successful path. This album shows that there is much scope left in them to pursue more adventurous material in the time ahead. This is a worthwhile beginning for them.
