BJ has been a bright new addition to the Melbourne pop scene over the past twelve months. He has been unheralded in her efforts so far, but she shows some creative thinking behind this debut album. The impressive vocals amongst the pop grooves signify her outgoing personality. BJ has a vision in moving beyond various musical boundaries and she engages us through the tastes offered. There are smooth, tender feelings on the slower songs, whereas a fervent 80s-flavoured style is displayed elsewhere. Co-written with her producer Ashley Cadell, BJ paints vivid images through the lyrics. Listen out to the powerful vocals of “Bump” and the reflective nature of “Miracle” and “Don’t Worry About Me”. This is a good debut album that hopefully will see listeners give it some time to absorb. Danceable songs and spirited energy gives BJ the jumpstart to her career.
