:: Eleven StagesBaggsmenAnother release to add to the great pile of fabulous dance infused releases that have come out of Sydney this year and this one, complete with one of the most interesting covers (inside is a map of a mini pin ball game and in the spine resides a small ball to go with it), certainly does it in eclectic style. The releases touches many bases and don’t come near the edge of boredom for a second, with guest appearances from Rudy Jackson for the very funky “Hi Top Days” – I’ll be quite surprised if this one doesn’t get a decent spin on radio. The next guest appearance comes in the form of rock journalist Jake Stone for a very American killer sounding “Long Strong Diamond”, definitely the most rocking song on the record. “Eleven Stages” covers quite a lot of ground and touches on a cocktail of perfectly infused influences, from 80’s pop/hippo, rock, intricately layered instrumentals, sweet Oriental flavoured pop gems (Three Brands of Impossible) etc. This is just the trip you need to add to your summer barbecue fun; just hit play and relax as the party starts itself. |
