:: Size Of The OceanBig Heavy StuffHopefully this is the album that breaks Big Heavy Stuff into the mainstream, or at least garners a little commercial success. Big Heavy Stuff are one of those great Aussie bands like Something for Kate or Screamfeeder who gig all the time and write great songs but never seem to quite push through, other than alternative radio support and a core of loyal supporters. The magical third album “Size of the Ocean” seems to be working for them here though, with “Hibernate”, “Devil's Tongue” and “Two Sisters” all receiving a decent thrashing on the radio. The songs are classy, well crafted, complex and beautiful, and producer Wayne Connolly knows how to make ARIA-winning albums so I'm hoping to see these guys feature this year - melodic pop at its best. Be sure to see them on a big scale tour around Australia with Something For Kate during May and June. |
