:: BritneyBritney SpearsShe has been at the top of the pop world for the last three years, and shows no signs of letting up. This is one for Britney’s teenage fans to revel in. She is very adept at the catchy pop style, and this follows on from where her two previous chart-topping albums have succeeded. The arrangements remain quite simple and straightforward, yet effective. The songwriting craft of Max Martin feeds through fine pop tunes – he has written five of the songs – and Britney flaunts her energy and sings appropriately well. Some interesting titles are apparent, namely “Overprotected”, “I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman” (co-written by Dido), and “I’m A Slave 4 U”. Listen out for track 7, a cover of “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll”. It’s not a great version though. After her previous “Satisfaction” version, it may be time for her to cease with that nonsense. BT co-writes with Britney on “Before The Goodbye” and her boyfriend Justin Timberlake (NSync) wrote, “What’s It Like To Be Me”. |
