Bruce Springsteen

The Boss is back with a double CD featuring twenty songs including two new tracks, “Land Of Hope And Dreams” and “American Skin”. The music was recorded during the final two nights of the band’s 1999-2000 world tour. The two new songs were premiered during the early part of the tour and quickly showed themselves as crowd favourites. They epitomise the nationalistic pride felt by Bruce and all those around him. “American Skin” is quite a haunting track that shows the Boss at his poignant best. This song did carry much controversy, though, because the song deals with a young black man who was shot forty-one times by police while looking for his wallet. The police were riled and wanted it and the Boss banned from performing. It was a triumphant tour for showing Springsteen as a showman alongside his mates that he obviously yearned to perform with again, after a long separation. Drummer Max Weinberg and the lead guitarists provided inspirational support and complemented each other with utmost precision. Bruce Springsteen has been one of the most durable and passionate live acts on the rock ‘n’ roll stage and this serves as a great reminder.
