This comes from a South Australian band that caught my eye a couple of years ago while in Sydney for Australian Music Week. Since then, the band has undergone a change in the line-up, adding extra female vocals that work well into conventional elements. On this new CD there is an emotional, angst style and they have written some good songs. A couple that should be noted are “The City”, with a synth bassline and excellent chorus, plus “Cats”, which sounds like The Murmurs’ “You Suck”. “Lonely Highway” is another interesting song with solid drumbeats and distorted guitars. It’s a pretty decent effort by Brunatex and something on which they can build.
