Cave In

Cave in! You may not hear it yet, but in the not too distant future you will hear fans screaming this name. Self-professed music geeks, Cave In are cool in a stellar kind of way. Their music is brash, heavy and beautiful, and every track on Antenna is provocative gold. Cave In make it very clear that they make music that speaks to people; music that has a point and purpose. It is easy to dismiss their work as a soundtrack for the angst-ridden teenager, but such dismissals would be grossly unfounded. Their lyrics touch on universal issues of disillusionment, loss, freedom and hope, all of which are communicated through exhilarating guitar riffs and powerful vocals. The special CD / DVD release of Antenna is a comprehensive introduction to the band. Comprising of interviews, videos, live performances and studio footage, it will turn any newcomer into an instant expert. The DVD also contains footage of the bands recent tour of Europe supporting the Foo Fighters, and is an excellent insight into the trials and triumphs of being on the road. Even without the backing of the DVD, the album stands on its own. Highlights include the pop culture lament of ‘Stained Silver’; the thumping hit ‘Anchor’ and the fantastic rock ballad ‘Beautiful Son’. My advice, give them a go. You never know that screaming fan of the future could be you.
