It’s great to see the support this singer-songwriter is receiving. Charlton has a talent sure to grow and it takes an effort like these songs to realise what a future he has. Charlton has travelled far and wide and reflected his thoughts articulately in song. He draws atmospheric images, with the single “Deep” showing his adeptness for a slick production. There is the intimacy of “If I Could” and “Don’t Sail”, while there is a feeling for a bigger sound in songs like “Faithfully Tenderly”. Although it is hard to think past the mellow rock infusions in this set, one gets the feeling that some grit and fire are ready to pull through from Charlton’s lungs. I believe there is versatility in Charlton’s music that will set him up strongly. His honest, insightful lyrics and manner are worthy ingredients towards a potentially long and successful career.
