:: ClientClient“Client” is the self-titled debut offering from an exciting new UK girl duo, which remain known only as “Client A” and “Client B”. They were recently discovered by Depeche Mode’s Andy Fletcher and were instantly signed to his label Toast Hawaii. Described as “a sound jam between Kraftwerk, Joy Division and Dusty Springfield (with a northern accent)” who can resist this? It’s time to buckle up people. Client is your chauffeur for the next fifty minutes, guiding you steadily through their addictive world of pastel coloured electro-clash. Fusing a lethal cocktail of astringent electro with delectably addictive melodies, analogue sounds, naivety, sleaze and classic song writing with attitude to boot, we deal with everything from love, anguish, broken hearts, loss of innocence, elation, sex, addiction to sedatives and untapped fantasies. Client possesses the sound we’ve been waiting for in 2003. This album is destined to be one of the main contenders for “Release of the year”. Everything works perfectly together and the album makes itself just as at home on your stereo as background music or as you’re gearing up for a big night out. With many likely bubble gum synth-pop singles to be taking over airwaves near you soon, standouts include “Rock & Roll Machine”, a three and a half minute track about leaving home and realising dreams, “Rock & roll is all I want to do” and, after hearing them, that’s all you’ll be wanting them to do too. This album is stunning, innovative and barely believable as a home studio recording. I suggest you get out there and get your head around the electro-pop sleaze mayhem that is Client and pray they head our way soon. This is exciting! |
