:: With Arms Wide Open

Creed

For those of you lamenting the death of the rock ballad, complete with screaming guitar solo, fear not, Creed is here to carry you into the next millennium with cigarette lighters firmly in the air. “With Arms Wide Open” is the second single from Creed's second album, “Human Clay” and just won the Grammy for best rock song, so its radio success in this country would appear to be signed sealed and delivered. I'm ambivalent about it though. Scott Stapp has the most fabulous voice (sounding not unlike Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder) and Creed is to be commended for tackling meaty subjects in moody and interesting ways, but I don't think this song shows their full potential. It's a watered down, radio-friendly version of Creed and you'd be better off getting either of their albums for a fuller
picture. It comes with video clip.
