DJ Jazzy Jeff

With millions of records sold, three Grammy Awards and a TV show, Jazzy Jeff is a virtual household name in the USA – obviously much more than in Australia, but still a recognisable figure here. Jeff has spent the past few years building up a label “A Touch of Jazz”, a full scale musical collective, filled with up young producers. The result of this household is ‘The Magnificent’, the long awaited debut solo album from Jazzy. The album is pretty much what you‘d expect, particularly with the current stream of slick R‘n’B currently flowing out of the US urban scene. Lacking the spark of recent releases from Missy Elliot and Tweet, The Magnificent is a safe, clean cut 18-track album that moves from smoothed out hip hop, deep soul and jazz elements. There are even a couple of straight up hip-hop gems including, 'Break it Down’ and ‘Musik Lounge’.
