:: This Is The Girl

Dan Greenwood

Dan (short for Danielle) comes from a strong musical family. In fact, her father Barry Greenwood was once touted as a golden boy of Australian rock in the early 1960s. Dan has done many miles to get to this stage of her career and it’s especially pleasing for me to see the release of her first album. She has a special versatility in her ability to produce fantastic vocals and to play several instruments, such as piano, French horn, and the use of the synthesiser. One can’t fault her songwriting ability – she brings a mellow tone that can be fiddled by loops and samples to whatever is desired. The songs are romantic and thought provoking. “Your Shoes” has already received airplay as a single – a cool, jazzy feel shown. She can slow the pace tenderly as in “Whispers”. Hopefully, she receives due support because she deserves it. There are certainly a couple of songs on this album worth releasing as singles. We look forward to some live appearances through 2003 because they’ve been scarce until now. Music lovers would then have a greater appreciation of Dan’s talent.
