Great songwriting and fine vocals and musicianship make this album one of the best releases of 2002, and they are shaping up to be one of the more successful British bands with integrity. The classy songs will enthrall you. It was evident with the previous album “Lost Souls” of their burning potential. They now take several steps forward with some inspirational tracks. “Words” shows a wonderful sense of feeling, while “There Goes The Fear” has layers of modern wizardry that shines through. As shown in their live performances, “Pounding” is a wonderful show-opener, with its bounce and vigorous anthemic quality. Doves don’t leave much to the imagination. They keep it pretty clear and effective in capturing moods and atmosphere. Give this band your time and the reward is a brilliant set of songs in a blaze of artistic magic.
