:: Echo ParkFeeder‘Echo Park’ is the third full-length release for the British pop punk 3-piece Feeder. The band are probably best known for their supercharged single “Insomnia” from a few years back, and the fact that they have a Tokyo-born bassist named Taka Hirose. ‘Echo Park’ sees the band continue with their own brand of melodic guitar rock, however the album feels a little over-produced as it strives to achieve a very ‘now’ sound. The result is an almost contrived sounding album, which suffers from repetition as much as it does from inconsistency. The obvious highlight from the album is the first single “Buck Rogers”, with its irresistible sing-a-long chorus and the best use of the words “CD player” ever committed to record. However, such highlights are few and far between. While Feeder try to fuse catchy punk rock and swirly pop, ‘Echo Park’ lacks the strength needed to keep it all together. |
