:: Oversized Akimbo

Friendly

Friendly released his debut album “Akimbo” last year and was well received for some innovative kicking DJ assaults and he ahs duly built a good following in this country. He now regurgitates the album together with a bonus disc “Oversized”, comprising remixes and live tracks. To refresh your memory on the album, he scored acknowledgment for his spirited turntable skills on “My Mother Was A Deejay” and “I Love You But…”.
On the bonus disc, he does a Bass Explorer remix of his own “Some Kind Of Love Song”. The craziness and originality of Machine Gun Fellatio turn up the heat on their remix of “I Wanna B U”. It’s loud and capable of causing bedlam. I couldn’t make much from the track “Heat Is Up”, which features The Wee Papa Girl Rappers”. Three live tracks make up the remainder of the disc. “Jam On This” was recorded live at the Hemispheres festival last December, while “Funk For Two Feet” and “Cuttin’ The Deejay” were both performed live at the Sydney Big Day Out Boiler Room this year. He is shown to be in pretty fine form. Friendly fans should definitely pick up this special 2-CD set before they get scarce.
