:: WomanGilli MoonLooking at the cover art of this album, I expected to hear some very tribal type, dare I say it, ‘hippie’ music. In typical style, Gilli Moon confounded my first expectation – this musical offering is very polished, very personal, and is a little like the passionate offerings of Tori Amos. Gilli dominates all of the tracks on this album amazingly strong, soaring voice that beautifully conveys the stories that wind lyrically around the bluesy guitar and electronic beats. She lays her personal emotional life bare for the listener, covering themes of love, what it is to be a woman in contemporary patriarchal society, the complexities of personality, and the daily battles of life. |
