Godhead

No doubt you‘ve heard Godhead's fabulous f**ked-up version of The Beatles’ 'Eleanor Rigby’ - a sure sign of executive producer Marilyn Manson‘s sense of humour. It signposts the album reasonably accurately, in terms of musical style. Godhead take a hard-edged programming approach to fairly standard rock 'n’ roll, so whilst they may look like the death metal circus clowns that parade through Kerrang and other metal magazines, they share more musically with Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, Faith No More and Filter. David Bowie‘s guitarist, Reeves Gabrels appears on the track 'Tired Old Man’ weaving his guitar synth magic, and Marilyn Manson band-mates Twiggy and Manson appear on a couple of tracks. This would have been expected considering Godhead is the first signing to Manson‘s own Posthuman record label. They should have let Manson have his way a little more though, because the track he sings on, 'Break You Down’, has the most balls and promises more than the album delivers. The resulting album is Nine Inch Nails light, or Faith No More gone techno. Take your pick
