Grandaddy

Having followed this band since they first made their mark in Australia with “Under The Western Freeway”, it’s been more than interesting to follow their progression and style. This latest album is sure to please their legion of fans. The songs contain a fanciful beauty and gorgeous melodies. “I’m On Standby” is an example of the cajoling vocal performance that resonates haunting images, a striking characteristic of Jason Lytle’s songwriting. He is a thought-provoker in bringing sparse, melancholic tracks such as “Lost In Yer Merry Way” and “Now It’s On”. And his songs contain those human vs machine viewpoints that he explores fervently. There is much to admire with Grandaddy as they continue to carve their own voice in music.
