Another old classic transformed for the electronic generation. I have had this conversation before, the one where we wonder if the kids these days even know that half of the songs they are listening to are covers of old seventies singles. I have to admit, though, that Gusto owns this cover of Steppenwolf’s trademark track. It’s a fresh interpretation of a fun song. Channel Ten liked it enough to use for their ad spots for weeks, and it is about as catchy as any single that has come out in the last year. With several remixes, including a breakbeat cut by Brewster, Magic Carpet Ride is a fun single to have crashing around the floor of your car, if your car is anything like mine.
