Idlewild

Having toured with the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Garbage and Ash, this Scottish band comes with good credentials. Good enough for Perth label Redline to secure the rights to this album. Although the songs were written two years ago, it still gives a good, solid sound without over-reaching into the inspirational stakes. Lots of attitude and bite will appeal to many people who like loud, tuneful music. “Roseability” has scored good support from the JJJ radio network. By the way, it has a fine video to boot. ”Little Discourage” is one of the better songs, with a fine mix of melody and aggression. The very good guitar work augments the piercing vocals. “Mistake Pageant” is also a catchy number. The surging guitar sound and melodic crafting gives good value through several listens. This album is impressive enough to warrant following this band with enthusiasm.
