It‘ll take these poor lads a while to escape any comparisons to Brazilian rockers Sepultura, especially as drummer Dave Chavarri spent a two month apprenticeship with Soulfly recently, coupled with the fact that most of the band were born in South America. But whilst Sepultura has Brazilian/Portuguese roots, Ill Nino come from a Latin background and, as drummer Dave Chavarri puts it, “The idea is to be as heavy as possible and as melodic as possible-with a Latin twist”. They appear to have been successful! 'Unreal’ lulls you into a peaceful slumber until ‘Nothing's Clear’ wakes you up and rips your spine out, then throws in some flamenco guitar for good measure. These guys do it all.
