:: DriveIncubusBeing only the third single off their album Make Yourself, Drive has already hit number 5 in the US alternative charts, and with plenty of commercial airplay here, especially on MMM and JJJ, it is set to be a huge hit. This
5-piece Californian rock outfit started out in 1991 when they released an independent album Fungus Amougus. They then appeared in 1997 with their full-length album S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Make Yourself was released in 1999 with only little recognition from Pardon Me and Stellar but it was enough to grab some attention. It definitely differs with their thrashy hip hop/rock sounds of S.C.I.E.N.C.E and it almost feels as if Incubus has found their own artistic style as it comes through in their new music. The single itself is almost of form of relaxation with its melodic guitars and harmonious vocals it takes you onto another level as if almost spiritual and their influences have come from here. The beat is catchy and the lead singer’s voice is intoxicating. Scott Litt, who worked with other such bands as REM, Nirvana and Days of the New, produced this album and with this kind of experience behind them, it will be hard for Incubus to fail.
