:: It Is What It Isn'tItcheeAndy Rantzen and Paul Mac are back to shake the musical feathers again with a new beginning. These two guys had won recognition in the mid-1990s with an ARIA Award for their album “Sweetness And Light”. Since then, they made music under the guise of Boo Boo & Mace. Paul has since collaborated with Daniel Johns (silverchair) and Tex Perkins within the last six months. This now is the album that they have been working towards for several years. It is a tight package of melodic, electronic sounds that keeps up their fine standard, though not widely as experimental as some pundits may have wished. It’s still a top-notch set. “That’s All There Is” is a fine example of funk and energy with a big bass, while we hear the fresh, captivating grooves on “Spin Cycle”. “Princess Universe” and “Melting Moments” will both please dance addicts in delivering cool beats and fine melody. One noticeable feature is the wonderful vocals throughout. Particular mention for Inga Liljestrom on “Like Stars” and Yolanda Podolski on “For You”. A fine balance of tracks and quality production makes this an inspirational album. http://www.cvibes.com |
