:: JJ72JJ72With their origins in Dublin, JJ72 give us a daring debut album. They have shown themselves to be the recent darlings of the UK scene and they demonstrate much angst and feeling in their musical output. Lead vocalist Mark Greaney, who fronts this trio of 20 year-olds, is a great example of the wit and confidence on show. He conveys a deep, brooding mood throughout. “October Swimmer” displays a very cutting impression and “Willow” contains a haunting cello sound. One of the highlights is the simple, melodic beauty of “Improv”. It conveys much emotion. It might take a while for listeners to sink into the crashing choruses and gentle moods, but JJ72 is sure to go a long way. They are the sort of band that would be underrated in today’s musical climate. I would love to see a live show, as they would bring show lots of power. This is worth a good listen. |
