:: J.LoJennifer LopezJennifer’s debut album, and the enormously high acting profile, laid the foundations for a successful follow-up album, no matter what she would produce. J-Lo is now the word for this world star. Upon listening, the sensuality and lively steps are all apparent and infectious listening. “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” was the first single from the album. It epitomises the melodic verve throughout. But it’s all there with Jennifer’s energetic vocals and general charisma, coupled with the backing of her producers, which provide the ingredients for the successful formula. Standout songs, apart from the opener, are the Latin rhythms of “Carino” and “Si Ya Se Acabo”, and the catchy, sensuality of “Play”. It’s the Latin rhythms that, when pushed to the hilt, give this album some strength. Jennifer believes that “Walking On Sunshine” is her favourite. It’s more in line with a common Euro sound, nothing fancy when compared with the pulsating samba sounds and the beefy R&B beats contained elsewhere. A couple of flat spots don’t diminish the album too much. Preconceptions may give rise to certain jealousy and scepticism regarding J.Lo’s stature. With serious listening, however, you’ll see that she’s the real deal. |
