:: Girls Who Cry Need CakeJenny QueenJenny is now settled into the Sydney lifestyle although she has done much travelling and gathered many influences from around the world. There is a passion to the music from this attractive looking singer with a noticeable name. She is a new talent sure to emerge as a marketable music identity. The songs will get better with more experience. However, this is a worthwhile listen, for she brings out her brand of exuberant pop country to a ready-made, if not overused, style. It is efficient in that the material suits her voice. And if the style follows the usual path, Jenny brings something a little fresh. Her life has taken her through the American culture (she grew up there) and the lyrics signify that realisation. A couple of tracks to note are the brooding and gripping structure of the song “Ten Feet Tall”, and a clear Australian country tone on the title track. I think Jenny will draw more people with live performances. Those times we now wait with interest. Her songwriting shows some depth, which will grow even further, and she has much to look forward to. |
