Some great grooves and a range of uplifting songs pave the way for some of the freshest mainstream sounds by an Australian female vocalist this year. Joanne either wrote/co-wrote eleven of the sixteen tracks. “So Damn Fine”, already a single this year, shows worth as a mid-tempo song. There is the techno touch of “Hot Hot Crazy”, while “Busted” goes the R&B way. Then you can party on with “Are You Ready” and “I Don’t Know”, both melodic dance tracks. Joanne knows how to belt out a song and looks to inherit the mantle of Australia’s dance queen. It’s a very impressive debut album, mainly full of upbeat and joyful themes. I get the feeling she may look at more personal songs in the future.
