:: Deli Girl

Kaleidoscope

After several fine EPs, Adelaide band Kaleidoscope reach the milestone of their first album. The three-piece pop-rockers show a determination in their musicianship and general stance in songwriting. They pull it off pretty well. They strike the right note with songs like “Deli Girl” and “Insurance Policy” that rock cohesively. Kylie Cowling’s strong vocals continue to heat up the attitude as she melds well with the guitars. “Free” shows a darker-themed sense, thereby leaving the band with scope for ongoing experimentation, which would be good to see. I think an edgier sound may be something for the band to consider. They are a very good band now, as it is, and this is a worthy debut effort.
